The family has not yet published an obituary, but her classmate Terry Slough Henretty ‘60 shared the following:

Regina Stanford Northcott, 1942-2022

In September, 1956, Our Lady of the Elms Class of 1960 met classmate, Regina Stanford. We called her Reg, though we learned from Mother Clare in Freshman Latin that her full name was regal. Regina was Latin for Queen. She died recently, but her obituary has yet to be written. Now friends are at the wake stage, sharing anecdotes, finding out more about Regina.

With a contingent of 12 pals from St. Joseph’s/Cuyahoga Falls, Reg – already known as a prankster – started at the Elms. Her hearty laugh, sparkling eyes, and wide smile were magnets. All students at the Elms in the late Fifties and early Sixties knew Regina. Among her many activities, she sang in the choir, acted in plays, and made the team in every sport. Regina’s Queenly role was starting to become evident as her bowling team, the Queenies won the Akron Junior Bowling Congress tournament three years in a row.

Reg went on to Ohio University. Active on campus, she earned a BS in Education- Speech Therapy and later went to Kent State for a MA in Communications. She has had many jobs and careers – Speech Therapist, Video Training Manager, Real Estate agent, Sales Engineer, Consultant, and District Court Commissioner.

In 1969, Regina married teacher Norman Northcott. Reg and Norm met a great group of friends. Reminiscing about all the fun they have had over the past years and realizing that Reg was often at the center of that fun, this group bestowed on Reg the title Fearless Queen of Fun. And that is how Regina Stanford Northcott, Our Lady of the Elms, Class of 1960, earned her regal title.
