Dear Elms Alumnae:

Greetings from Our Lady of the Elms School!  We hope you have enjoyed time with family and friends this summer.  In two short weeks we will welcome students to school for the 2024-25 academic year – time does seem to fly by all too quickly!

To that point, one short year ago the School celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding.  Today we share news of a new sponsorship organization in the life of the Elms.  The Dominican Sisters of Peace have worked with other Dominican congregations to create a national organization that brings tremendous opportunity for collaboration with other Dominican schools, and the chance to grow in our Catholic Dominican faith.

Dominican Veritas Ministries (DVM), which was created specifically as the canonical sponsor of Dominican Schools in the United States, has been approved to assume canonical sponsorship of Our Lady of the Elms School.  The official transfer will take place during first semester of the 2024-25 school year at a ceremony on campus.  You will be invited to attend this auspicious occasion.

The process to transfer sponsorship was a lengthy one.  You are invited to read the letter from Dominican Sisters of Peace Leadership, the congregation that has sponsored the Elms for the past 15 years, announcing this transition.  You will note that day-to-day operations of the School – and its Board of Trustees – are not impacted by the change in sponsorship.

As a school community, we welcome the opportunity to continue the 100-year history of Our Lady of the Elms School as a Catholic institution where the Dominican charism guides us as we strive to provide an outstanding, faith-based academic experience for every child in our care.  As we separate from the Dominican Sisters of Peace, we have established Our Lady of the Elms School Foundation so that gifts from alums and friends specifically for the School can be collected and designated for School use.
